A Beginner's Guide to Your First Round at Strawgrass

If you’ve never played golf, a short course is the perfect place to begin — and we promise nobody’s keeping score on how you look. Here’s how to make your first round at Strawgrass a great one.

Keep it simple

You don’t need a full set of clubs or a wardrobe. A wedge, a short iron, and a putter will get you around our holes happily. Wear comfortable clothes and soft-spike or spikeless golf shoes — we’re a soft-spike-only facility — and bring a sense of humor.

A few etiquette basics go a long way: keep up with the group ahead, stay still and quiet while others swing, and fix any mark you leave on the green. Beyond that, just enjoy it. Our staff and instructors are glad to walk you through the rest — a single lesson before you tee off can turn a nervous first round into a lifelong habit.
